Peace: shalom, completeness, soundness, fullness, well-being with God and man. Nearly always carries a spiritual connotation
What does God’s peace look like?
1. A transforming peace (Luke 1:76-78)
We have received forgiveness of sin through God’s mercy.
We respond to others as God has responded to us.
Story of Anita Smith, widow of Ronnie Smith, killed in Libya
Anita Smith’s letter to the Libyan people: “To his attackers: I love you and I forgive you. . . . Because of what Jesus did, Ronnie is with Jesus in paradise now. Jesus did not come only to take us to paradise when we die, but also to bring peace and healing on this earth. . . . I am praying for the peace and prosperity of Libyan. May Ronnie’s blood shed on Libyan soil, encourage peace and reconciliation between the Libyan people and God.”
Ephesians 4:32 – Forgive as Christ has forgiven you.
2. A reaching peace (Luke 1:78-79)
3. A guiding peace (Luke 1:79)
Keep Calm and Carry On
