July 28, 2013 SERMON NOTES
Psalm 27:1-14

1. The Black Box of Faith
a. Many of us are unaware of the inner workings of Holy Confidence so we are unable to effectively grow in difficult times
b. Psalm 27 gives a look into the inner workings of Holy Confidence regardless of our circumstances
2. Holy Confidence: Snapshot of a Duck Swimming
a. Holy Confidence up top is because of the persistence of two practices underneath
i. Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past (Verses 1-6)
ii. Faithfulness to God in the present in spite of circumstances and emotions
1. Faithfulness in prayer
2. Faithfulness in obedience
b. These two practices allow us to practice a Holy Confidence regardless of the circumstances
3. Waiting in Holy Confidence
a. Waiting strips our allusion of control we have in our life but is an excellent incubator of faith
b. Holy Confidence in waiting isn’t dependent on the circumstances but on the Character of God

1. Our Stronghold is NOT our “Stronghold to Victory.” He is our “Stronghold of Victory.”
2. Our Stronghold has proven His Faithfulness in days past. So, bring it to remembrance.”
3. Our Stronghold Deserves our #1 Worship Position…does he have it?
4. Our Stronghold is a Rescuer, and relates to our fear through Christ the Rescuer.

1. To be in God’s presence
2. To see God’s beauty
3. To inquire of Him
3. They Seek God’s Face
4. They Wait For Him
“Wait at his door with prayer; wait at his foot with humility; wait at his table with service; wait at his window with expectancy.” – Spurgeon
Pray and wait for His answer. Humble yourself before Him and He will exalt you. Serve Him with great joy. Wait for His arrival.
Refusing to wait
1. Shows a lack of trust
2. Shows an attempt to deliver yourself
Waiting
1. Says, “God, I trust you.”
2. Says, “God, you are my deliverer.”
