Summary

John the Baptist was sent to prepare the way for the Messiah. When Jesus asked to be baptized by him, John hesitated. But Jesus explained it was part of God’s plan. After Jesus’ baptism, the Spirit of God descended on Him, and a voice from heaven declared Him as God’s beloved Son. John later identified Jesus as the Lamb of God, the
One who would take away the sin of the world. Jesus then resisted temptation in the wilderness before starting His ministry.
