The Countdown to Impact Myrtle Beach team had a phenomenal trip! The team worked with a church planter named Wallace Evans and his sending church, Jamestown Baptist, where Jamie Collins pastors in Conway, SC. We arrived on March 28 and taught eight people how to share their testimony and the gospel. Then the team prayerwalked around the future location of Impact Church and had many fruitful gospel conversations. One group led a lady to the Lord as she sat on her front porch!
On Saturday, March 29, we helped Impact Church host a block party. We had over a hundred people show up to the event! We provided food and games for people to partake in and then brother Wallace Evans preached a gospel message toward the end of the block party. After the block party, Hunter led a group of college students on a prayer walk around the campus of Coastal Carolina and had many more gospel conversations. On Sunday, March 30, our team split up into four groups of two and taught life groups on gospel urgency at Jamestown Baptist Church. In total, we saw four people come to faith throughout the weekend!
The Myrtle Beach area is the fastest-growing metropolitan area in the United States. On average about a hundred new addresses are created Monday through Friday due to the rapid growth and expansion. The South Carolina Baptist Convention and Taylors First Baptist Church are committed to coming alongside church planters to help further the gospel within our state. It was a great joy and privilege to work alongside Wallace Evans as he plans to launch Impact Church in September of this year.
Ways that we can be praying for our partners and the Myrtle Beach area:
- Pray for Wallace as he forms a core church planting team.
- Pray that the gospel will continue to advance in the MB area.
- Pray for Jamestown Baptist Church as they come alongside of Impact Church.
- Pray that many more churches will be planted in the Grand Strand region of SC.
“First off, I didn’t know what to expect on our Myrtle Beach Impact trip. I was so blessed but also so saddened! The harvest there is SO ripe, but the laborers are few. Please pray for the Conway area.” — Deb Quinn
“God gave our Myrtle Beach team great joy as we assisted Impact church’s block party. On the day before, we prayed as we walked through the surrounding neighborhood. God provided many meaningful encounters with individuals hungry for face to face encouragement and prayer. We will continue to pray as God uses Impact Church to reach out to a community in need of a Savior and a church home.” — Linda Norman
